The poll results are in with over 100 votes and the Coppercreek Camp family has picked the barn name “Oliver” for our new lesson pony. We affectionately call him “Olly”, already. The name fits him really well. He is a very sweet, mellow boy with just enough “pony sass” to remind you he is still a pony. He tried to make friends with Hatch yesterday but Hatch promptly bit him in the back and cantered off. So Olly is spending more time meeting our lesson string over the fence until he decides who he wants to room with. Perhaps, we need to institute an anti-bullying campaign at the barn.
On Friday, Olly had his first official lesson with one of our winter students, 9 year old Natalie, learning the posting trot.
Sutter has been schooling Oliver, getting to know him and conditioning him for lessons.
Sutter works on Oliver’s cantering.
We added a pole to Oliver’s cantering work. Next week, the jumping begins!
